History is all around us, and as such, certain locations will be written up in the history books, become national, state, or local sights of interest - landmarks if you will. But some places only get memorialized with markers.
This resource guide tries to list all official online lists of State Historical Markers (several states only have official lists in books). However to completely cover the topic there is a section for Federally recognized historic places, and another for the state historical societies.
In addition to the official lists, the traveling public or private organizations have created websites to document historical places. And, lastly, as a further bonus, this guide includes a list of the three State Library's that have lists of state myths.
